Erin Dillmann Wins ‘Adopt An Undergrad’ Scholarship
Erin Dillman, BS and MS in Civil Engineering, recently received the Adopt an Undergrad Scholarship from the New York State Association of Traffic Engineers. The award is given to qualified students pursuing an Engineering degree in the fields of design, construction or maintenance of public works.

Wang Leads Workshop on Technologies to Power Smart Cities
Assistant Professor Qi Ryan Wang, of Northeastern’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Assistant Professor Farrokh Jazizadeh Karimi, of Virginia Tech, held a workshop, entitled, “Building Blocks for Smarter Cities” to explore the systems necessary to create sustainable future urban areas. In the conference’s program, Wang and Karimi call for increased focus on the foundational technologies that will power smart cities.

CEE Associate Professor Philip Larese-Casanova (PI), Assistant Professor Loretta Fernandez, and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education Akram Alsahwabkeh were awarded a $760K grant from the DoD’s Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) for “Electrochemically-Induced in situ Degradation of Legacy Munitions and Insensitive High Explosives in Manufacturing Wastewater.”
