Using AI for Disaster Response Research

Fatemeh Ghoreishi

CEE/Khoury Assistant Professor Fatemeh Ghoreishi, in collaboration with the University of Utah and the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, was awarded a $900,000 grant from the U.S. Army for the project, “Interactive Human-Agent Teaming Via Multiple Feedback Types,” which aims to develop advanced machine learning and optimization techniques to provide real-time guidance and recommendations for human teams operating in disaster scenarios. The project seeks to address the challenges posed by dynamic and unpredictable human feedback, influenced by factors such as trust in AI systems and human behavioral responses. By systematically incorporating these complexities, the research aims to create adaptive and effective solutions that prioritize safety on a large scale.
