NU Civil Engineering Students Participate in the 18th Annual CANstruction Competition
Twenty-six teams made up of engineers, architects, and students from all over Boston participated in CANstruction in October 2013, where students built large structures from cans according to this year’s theme, Movies and Cinema. A group of NU civil engineering students and members of Chi Epsilon built the "Defeating Despicable Hunger" minions from the popular movie Despicable Me using 3132 non-perishable food cans. Planning for this event took the team three months, from designing the structure, ordering cans, and cutting leveling materials. The cans are subsequently deCANstructed and donated to the Merrimack Valley Food bank.
