Northeastern Engineers Without Borders wins 2020 Global Influence Award

Northeastern University’s Engineers Without Borders (EWB) chapter was recently awarded the Global Influence Award at the 2020 Student Life Awards. The award is conferred annually by the Center for Student Involvement to an organization that “promotes global and/or cultural awareness through their educational programming and supports campus programming or experiential learning that places emphasis on global cultures, relations, or awareness.”

This is not the first time EWB has received this award – they were also recognized in 2017. “This award is a testament to our chapter’s dedication to our partner communities and would not be possible without the hard work of our students and the gratuity of our donors. We hope to continue our success in the future and will always strive to provide conscientious solutions to our communities’ challenges” says Peter Botticello, President of Northeastern EWB-USA and a civil and environmental engineering undergraduate student.

The organization also won the 2019 Premier Chapter Award last year – an award that celebrates a student chapter that exemplifies EWB-USA’s mission through efficient organization, effective fundraising, and an engaged student body.

Engineers Without Borders Northeastern Chapter is a student-led organization with a mission to provide accessible drinking water to communities in Guatemala, Uganda, and Panama. They are advised by Assistant Co-op Coordinator Jessica Ormsby.
