Matthew Schomacker Wins Parsons Brinckerhoff/Jim Lammie Scholarship

Matthew Schomacker, a class of 2021 BS/MS Civil Engineering student, received the 2019 Parsons Brinckerhoff/Jim Lammie Scholarship from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). Schomacker will travel to New York City this October to attend the APTA annual TRANSform conference and accept the award.

The Parsons Brinckerhoff/Jim Lammie award is dedicated to exceptional students looking to pursue a career in public transportation engineering. The application process is competitive – students are required to have a minimum GPA of 3.0, complete an internship and receive sponsorship from an APTA organization to fulfill the eligibility criteria. The award will be conferred at the APTA TRANSform conference, where aspects of “learning, sharing, experiencing, and networking will take center stage”.

Last year, Matthew was the recipient of the 2018 Bombardier Transportation Scholarship and is currently on co-op at HNTB Corporation, an infrastructure design firm that specializes in transit systems, roadways, and bridges. Exercising his enthusiasm for transit systems, he is also actively involved in various development projects at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and he looks forward to working in the transportation industry.
