MassDOT’s Jonathan Gulliver joins CEE Industrial Advisory Board

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is pleased to announce that Jonathan Gulliver will be joining our Industrial Advisory Board (IAB), beginning with the Fall 2025 semester. The IAB is a dedicated group of distinguished civil and environmental engineers to advise the Department on matters related to research, development, curriculum, cooperative education, student organizations, and other important functions related to our department’s mission.

Gulliver is the State Highway Administrator at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT).  He oversees the daily operations of the state highway system and leads a team of nearly 2,800 staff responsible for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the Commonwealth’s roadway infrastructure.  His career in heavy construction and transportation infrastructure spans nearly three decades and has advanced several of the state’s most transformative projects.  He is responsible for the annual delivery of MassDOT’s $2 billion capital program and has held multiple leadership positions within MassDOT. Gulliver is active in several professional organizations and has served on numerous advisory boards and national committees focused on innovation, safety, and infrastructure delivery.  He is the recipient of several industry honors, including the Honorable Ray LaHood Award from WTS Boston (2022), The TECET Leadership Award from The Engineering Center Education Trust (2023), Person of the Year from CMAA New England (2025), and the Professional Manager of the Year in Transportation from the American Public Works Association (2025). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Gulliver delivered the keynote address at last year’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Industry Leadership Night.
