Make a Lasting Impact

We are pleased to introduce three new academic programs built on the growing challenges and opportunities of an increasingly complex world. Human activity continues to shape our natural and built environments and human health, and engineers must be able to meet these challenges head on. As we continue to rethink the way we view the engineering profession, new skills are needed. It is from this place that we developed three, new and innovative degree programs that focus on two critical areas of the future – the environment and public policy.

Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering

Grounded in the basic sciences, and combining hands-on learning and theory, our new Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering is unique. This program is built not only around the broad skills and expertise of a world-class environmental faculty but also an understanding that government and industry face unique and growing challenges. This degree provides the comprehensive understanding needed to develop tomorrow’s innovations. Our curriculum includes a wide range of opportunities for experiential and project-based learning, including courses taught by faculty who provide off-site, hands-on instruction and field trips within a coastal environment, based at Northeastern’s Marine Science Center located in Nahant, MA.

Master of Science in Environmental Engineering

Our Master of Science in Environmental Engineering builds upon the fundamentals of a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. This program looks at current challenges and opportunities from an innovative and comprehensive standpoint, providing those looking for an advanced degree, additional skills in a rapidly evolving profession. Careers in industry, academia or as entrepreneurs await those looking to make a lasting impact that extends beyond the engineering profession.

Master of Science in Engineering and Public Policy

As both the world population and political support for massive investments in infrastructure grow, the need for engineers with a public policy skill-set is crucial. Engineers play a key role not only in developing and implementing solutions to societal questions but also in public sector planning and decision-making. This degree was borne out of an understanding that public policy and engineering cannot function without the other. With two concentrations, Energy & Environmental, and Infrastructure Resilience, this flexible degree allows students to study specific engineering applications while gaining a solid foundation in policy analysis, economics, and statistics.
