Interdisciplinary Engineering Student Receives 2026 Outstanding PhD Student Award in Experiential Learning

Aayushi Mishra, PhD’27, interdisciplinary engineering, received the 2026 Outstanding PhD Student Award in Experiential Learning, which recognizes graduate students who have shown an extraordinary capacity to integrate academics and professional work and establish themselves as emerging leaders in their field.

Mishra is a doctoral candidate in Interdisciplinary Engineering and Lizzy Warner Fellow, where she researches the intersection of physical climate risk, municipal and sovereign finance, and socioeconomic equity. Her research, recently published in Nature Cities, analyzes how climate hazards strain public debt markets and widen financial disparities in vulnerable communities. Mishra’s findings have been featured in the Wall Street Journal and Politico, and she has participated in exclusive roundtable discussions at the New York Stock Exchange, presented to the California Department of Transportation, Washington State’s Floodplains by Design, and others. Mishra is currently a Research Fellow at Municipal Market Analytics, Inc. (MMA) and a proud member of the Sustainability and Data Sciences (SDS) Lab at Northeastern.
