Construction Management

Construction management is a broad and complex discipline that integrates the multiple stages of large-scale construction with the detailed technology and knowledge needed to complete a construction project. As a result, Civil and Environmental Engineers with knowledge in business, management, public policy, and technical aspects of the broad world of construction are vitally important.

Our faculty at Northeastern work in this highly interdisciplinary field on optimal material and energy use in urban buildings and infrastructure, sustainable and high-performance building design, development of cutting-edge technologies at the intersection of automation, robotics, and data science, risk assessment, construction productivity and managing construction costs/scheduling for optimal efficiency.

As a student of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Northeastern University, you can focus on construction management to learn how to approach and lead construction projects from a sustainable and holistic perspective. This means you will be exposed not only to technical engineering concepts but also to a much broader application of these concepts as they relate to large and complex projects.

Areas of Study

  • Construction project control and organization
  • Sustainable design and technologies in construction
